El Túnel del Tren en Guajataca

The mountain separating Playa Guajataca from Playa Mirador is traversed by the Isabela Guajataca Tunnel, built in 1904. One of the most popular destinations in this area of the island, it was designated a historical monument in 2000. Come take a stroll through this tunnel to learn about the past and the many surprises it has in store.

Visitors can board a tiny, rideable model train that simulates the trip Puerto Rico's railway took across the tunnel in the early 1900s on weekends beginning at 9:00 AM. On your visit on a Saturday or Sunday, you'll also discover food stands, artists selling their one-of-a-kind creations, and youngsters can take a short pony or horseback rides.
